Image Size Compressor (KB/MB)

Compress images to a target file size

Drop your files here

JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF (still frame)

Make it yours

JPEG output may reduce dimensions and detail. Transparency is flattened onto white. Very small limits may not be achievable.

Processed privately on your device.

The essentials

The Image Size Compressor hits an exact file-size target — 50 KB for a government form, 200 KB for an application portal — by automatically tuning quality and dimensions until your image fits.

How to use it

  1. Upload your image.
  2. Type the target size and choose KB or MB.
  3. Run the compression — the tool searches for the best quality that fits.
  4. Download the image, guaranteed at or under your limit.

Pro tips

  • Very small targets (under 30 KB) may need reduced dimensions — that is normal.
  • JPG/WebP reach small targets more easily than PNG.
  • If the result looks soft, raise the target slightly for a big quality jump.

Behind the result

The tool runs an iterative search: it re-encodes the image at different quality levels — and gently reduces dimensions only if quality alone cannot reach the goal — measuring real output bytes each round until the file fits your limit.

A worked example

A government portal rejects photos over 50 KB.

Input
A 2.4 MB JPG passport-style photo.
Output
A 49 KB JPG that the portal accepts on the first try.
